| Polarization maintaining fiber transmission line polarized light£¬widely used in various fields of aerospace, aviation, navigation, industrial manufacturing technology and communication of national economy. In the interferometric fiber optic sensor witch based on optical coherent detection, the use of polarization maintaining fiber can guarantee the constant linear polarization direction, improve the coherent signal to noise ratio, in order to realize the high precision measurement of physical quantities. In drawing process of polarization maintaining fiber, the polarization properties will decrease because of structural defects in fiber internally generated. That is ,when linearly polarized along one axis transmission characteristics of fiber, part of the light signal is coupled to another vertical characteristics shaft, resulting in a drop shot polarized signal polarization extinction ratio, finally the exit extinction ratio of the polarization of polarized light signal decreased. This defect effects birefringence effect of the fiber. With stronger birefringence effect and shorter wavelength polarization maintaining fiber will has better transmission of polarized light.
